Course evaluation

• An academic year is divided into two semesters.
• Internship/apprenticeship/work-based vocational education and training can be carried out during the summer term, especially by students who wish to exit after two semesters or four semesters of study.
Major discipline:
Major course is the discipline or subject of main focus and the degree will be awarded in that discipline. Students should secure the prescribed number of credits (about 50% of total credits) through core courses in the major discipline.
Change of Major: Students can opt for a change of major within the broad discipline (Natural and Physical Sciences, Mathematical, Statistics, and Computational Sciences, Library, Information and Media Sciences, Commerce and Management, and Humanities and Social Sciences) at the end of the first year. (Please refer to Table 1.1 for subject combinations under NEP 2020)
Minor discipline:
Minor Course helps a student to gain a broader understanding beyond the major discipline. A student is required to choose one minor among the different categories for the UG programme.
Other Courses:
Multi-Disciplinary Course (MD),
Ability Enhancement Course (AECC) and
Skill Enhancement Courses (SE) will be of 3/2 credits.
Common Value-Added Courses (VAC):
Courses under Value Added, Summer Internship/ Apprenticeship/ Community outreach activities, etc., for all majors, may be of 2-credits or as appropriate;
Final year Research project / Dissertation etc., will be of 12 credits.
